HONORARIUM

The 'Lectric Law LibraryThe 'Lectric Law Library
Money or other valuable property given in gratitude for services rendered; for example, payments to ministers for presiding at weddings and funerals or to politicians for speaking at a trade group's convention.

This is a method often used to circumvent campaign financing, influence peddling and bribery laws relating to elected and other public officials, either legally or otherwise, depending on the relevant jurisdiction's laws and rules.
