Zoning
Legislative action, usually on the municipal level, that dividesmunicipalities into districts for the purpose of regulating the use of privateproperty and the construction of buildings within the zones established. Zoningis said to be part of the state police power, and therefore must be for thefurthering of the health, morals, safety, or general welfare of the community.
