Self-defense
The self-protection of one's person, or preservation of membersof one's family and, to a lesser extent, one's property, from harm by anaggressor, in a way and under circumstances that the law recognizes asjustifying the protective measures. It is a valid defense to a criminal chargeor to tort liability.
